Genting International Cash Offer to British Casino

Answer to offer?

Stanley Leisure of Britain said it had agreed to a cash offer from Genting International to buy further 5.3% stake in the casino firm.


Genting International shares in Stanley Leisure

Subsidiary of Genting Bhd, Genting International now owned 30.5% of the shares in Stanley.


Stanley Leisure?

Stanley Leisure founder and chairman Leonard Steinberg built the group from a single betting shop in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He is the owner of the high end Crockfords casino in London's Mayfair district.


Other Genting International partner in Britian

London Clubs, nearly 30%-owned by Genting International. The casino firm now taken over by Las Vegas-based, Harrah's Entertainment.

Four Malaysians 40 Richest Men On Asiamoney List

Four businesspeople in our Malaysia's 40 Richest Men list made it to Asiamoney's list of 100 most powerful and influential people in finance and business in the Asia region.

The list

Leading the pack of Malaysians are Tan Sri Quek Leng Chan at 20th place in the list. He was currently rank 5th in our top 40 richest men list who is the executive chairman of Hong Leong Group. The list acknowledged Malaysian hotelier and commodities king Tan Sri Robert Kuok Hock Nien, at 57th place, as a self-made Chinese tycoon. Malaysia's 2nd richest, Ananda Krishnan at 90th place while YTL Corp, Tan Sri Francis Yeoh at 98th place.

According to our study, Malaysia 40 richest businesspeople are worth a
collective RM 95.4 billion (US$26b).This figure onlyhalf of world
richest man fortune, Bill Gates with the net worth of US $50 billion.
Amazingly, the nation's 9 billionaires account for a whopping 82% of
that RM 95.4 billion sum. The man at the top, Robert Kuok, has been
Southeast Asia's richest man for years. He has topped
Malaysian 40 richest men list for the third consecutive year.


Youngest & Oldest?


The average age in this 40 richest man list is 60 years old. Datuk
Vinod Sekhar with the age of 37 from Petra Group is the yougest of all.
Oldest in the list age 88 is Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong from Genting Group.


Women?


The only women in this list is Puan Sri Chong Chook Yew from Selangor
Properties who inherited her husband fortune after the death of her
husband.


Changes?


The most apparent changes of the list compare with previous year is
Public Bank Berhad's Tan Sri Teh Hong Piow and IOI Group's Tan Sri Lee
Shin Cheng overtake Hong Leong's Tan Sri Quek Leng Chan and Genting's
Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong. Quek Leng Chan and Lim Goh Tong used to be in the
top 4 together with Robert Kuok and Maxis's Ananda Krishnan.


Self made or inherited?


Tan Sri Teh Hong Piow and Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng are first generation
who create the wealth themselves. Robert Kuok and Quek Leng Chan are
second generation. Which mean their father has earn the first million
and they inherited some wealth from their father.
